Roasted Chickpeas: Easy & Delicious

Nothing feels as good as laying on the couch to watch a clever documentary…..or hours of housewives. Which ever you choose, can’t have a night on the couch without snacks!

Roasted chickpeas are a great alternative to classic savoury snacks, such as chips or popcorn. These tiny little beans, packed with fibre are delicious and satisfying when roasted and seasoned.

With the noticeable change in temperature over the last weeks, cozy times are defiantly on their way. Time to get the snacks ready!

Apple & Pecan Salad

With thanksgiving coming up and Halloween around the corner its time to settle in and enjoy all the season has to offer.

My parents have apple trees and one of my favourite parts of fall is enjoying the weekly bags of macintosh apples they drop off. Nothing says fall like a crisp and delicious apple!

My apple and pecan salad is the perfect salad to showcase the fall season and use up my apples.  Continue reading “Apple & Pecan Salad”

Vegan power potato salad

Happy Friday Friends,

In the spirit of summer I threw together a quick vegan potato salad last night. It was hit for David and I! The kids weren’t as enthusiastic because of all of the mystery greens, toddlers can be such food snobs 😉 Anyway this salad was very fast to make and I added a few extras to pump it up. Raw Food Update: Dairy, Digestion and Facebook.

Hi Everyone,

I just finished the raw food challenge and it went pretty smooth. I have been doing one cooked vegan meal at night (rice or quinoa usually), this was my intention when I started the challenge anyway, I like like the texture of cooked food once a day. It hasn’t been too challenging because I eat like this 75% of the time anyway. But I do thrive off the structure and motivation of a group challenge, plus Continue reading “Raw Food Update: Dairy, Digestion and Facebook.”

Three Bean Salad

Happy Friday everyone!

I wanted to share one of my favourite recipes (this is not raw, like the challenge Anna is doing), but it is a vegan- three bean salad. Its great for a summer BBQ or to bring up to the cottage for the weekend. I love having a salad on hand, ready to compliment any meal or just to have as a quick snack on its own. The best part about this three bean salad the longer it marinates in the fridge the better it tastes! Continue reading “Three Bean Salad”

Good morning! Pre-Workout vegan Meal.

Good morning!
I thought I would post my breakfast/pre-workout meal: 4 bananas blended with 2 stalks of celery and 1/3 of a cucumber. I also try to add about 750ml of water into the blender. For my workout I am teaching Jillian Michael’s Body Shred and Les Mills RPM (spin), I would say I will burn between 500-600 calories (I always guess modestly). A pre-workout meal should be consumed at least 1 or 2 hours before your workout so it doesn’t compromise your performance and so that the food digest properly. Some people might be thinking: 4 bananas!! Isn’t that too much sugar? The answer is no and if it was a post workout meal I may have eaten more! I have done my research and I have also read the oppositions argument on this topic. People do not get heart disease and type 2 diabetes from too much fruit. Rant over, I will add some resources below if you want to continue on this topic. Anyway, I also drink a litre of water before I even officially get out of bed in the morning. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. 🙂 Have a successful Monday! Xoxo Anna.

Watermelon Juice Recipe

Good morning! If you are like Anna and I and live on the east coast you too will have arose to more snow! I am getting so tired of this snow and can hardly wait for it all to melt so I can start hitting the beach, running outside and enjoying all the other lovely activities the spring and summer bring.

For now lets sip on some watermelon juice and pretend its summer! This recipe creates the most amazing juice, you will be blown away. It is refreshing, delicious and so smooth.

All you need for this recipe is one whole watermelon, 6 cubes of ice, half a cup of water, a blender and a strainer. Chop the entire watermelon and place into the blender. Add ice and water and blend! Once it looks smooth run the contents of the blender through a strainer to remove the pulp.  Add water to make less sweet and more diluted as you please. Enjoy xoxoxox
